The Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek, also known as the Annapurna Tilicho Base Camp Trek, takes you to Tilicho Lake at an elevation of 4,919 meters, one of the world’s highest lakes. This remarkable journey explores the heart of the Annapurna region, including the famous Thorong La Pass. Along the way, you can enjoy spectacular Himalayan views of the Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

The trek offers much more than breathtaking mountain scenery. It takes you through the diverse landscapes of Nepal’s trans-Himalayan region, including the dramatic Kali Gandaki gorge and the natural hot springs of Tatopani. You will also experience the rich cultural diversity of communities such as Brahmins, Chhetris, Gurungs, Thakalis, Tibetan communities, Magars, and Rais.

The Annapurna Circuit via Tilicho Lake is best enjoyed during the spring and autumn seasons, when the weather is generally favorable and mountain views are clear. However, Mountain Miracle Treks & Expedition can arrange this trek throughout the year based on travelers’ preferences and conditions.

The trek begins in Besisahar and follows the Marsyangdi Valley along the classic Annapurna Circuit route toward Manang. From Manang, the trail branches toward Khangsar Valley and continues to Tilicho Base Camp and Tilicho Lake. After exploring Tilicho Lake, the route rejoins the Annapurna Circuit and continues toward Thorong La Pass.

Mountain Miracle Treks & Expedition offers different options for combining Tilicho Lake with the Annapurna Circuit, including the Tilicho Lake–Thorong La Pass route and the more challenging Tilicho Lake–Mesokanto La Pass route (5,330 m).

The complete Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek generally requires around three weeks, depending on the itinerary and trekking conditions. After reaching Jomsom, trekkers can travel onward to Pokhara or extend their journey through the Kali Gandaki Valley, including Tatopani, Ghorepani, and Poon Hill, before continuing to Pokhara.

Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel (1,365 m) 20 min Drive to hotel.

As we received your flight schedule, our airport representative will be waiting on time at the (TIA) Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu for your arrival. We will drop you off at your Hotel in a private vehicle, and you will stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02:Kathmandu city tour and further tour planning (1,365 m) 5 hours tour.

After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, visiting four remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our tour includes the historically and architecturally rich Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the fascinating “Monkey Temple” (Swayambhunath), and the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world.

We will also explore the local markets and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu. After our late-afternoon sightseeing, we return to the hotel for a brief trek preparation meeting. This will be an opportunity to meet your trekking team and get acquainted with your guide and porters.

You will then have some free time to explore the lively streets of Thamel or purchase any last-minute trekking gear and essentials you may need. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03:Drive from Kathmandu to Nadi bazar (9,30 m) 8 hours drive.

After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu, our trekking guide will pick you up and begin the scenic drive along the Kathmandu–Pokhara highway to Dumre. From there, we follow the winding road alongside the Marsyangdi River to Besisahar and continue to Nadi Bazaar. The journey offers beautiful landscapes and a chance to experience local life while traveling by bus. Overnight stay in Nadi Bazaar.

Day 04:Trek from Nadi Bazar to Jagat (1,300 m) 7 hours walk.

After breakfast at the lodge, we begin our trek toward Jagat, which takes approximately 6–7 hours. The trail starts with a relatively level section before ascending steeply along a narrow path carved into the cliffside, high above the Marsyangdi River. Eventually, we descend to the stone-built village of Jagat (1,330 m), situated on a rocky shelf above the dramatic Marsyangdi Valley. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 05:Trek from Jagat to Dharapani (1,860 m) 7 hours walk.

After a hot breakfast at the hotel, we begin our trek by descending to the river and crossing a suspension bridge. The trail then climbs steeply toward Sattale (1,550 m), with dramatic views of the valley below. We continue along an undulating trail above the Marsyangdi River, crossing several small streams and passing through lush mountain landscapes.

After climbing to the top of the ridge, we reach the open valley of Tal (1,700 m). Beyond Tal, the valley narrows, and the trail becomes steep and winding, with sections carved directly into the rocky cliffs. After passing the small village of Karte (1,900 m), we continue along the dramatic cliffside trail before descending to the river. We cross another suspension bridge and arrive at Dharapani. Day 06:Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2,670 m) 6 hours walk.

After breakfast at the guesthouse, we begin our trek early in the morning. The trail initially passes through a narrow forested area before crossing the Dudh Khola, which originates from the southern slopes of Manaslu. The Marsyangdi River then turns west, while Annapurna II gradually comes into view.

We continue through pine and oak forests to Bagarchhap, a traditional Bhote village decorated with colorful prayer flags and home to a Buddhist monastery. The trail then climbs through the forest to Danaque (2,210 m). After crossing a small wooden bridge, we ascend steeply to Timang, situated beneath Lamjung Himal. From Timang, the trail becomes relatively level as we continue toward Chame, the administrative center of Manang District. Overnight in Chame.

Day 07:Trek from Chame to lower Pisang (3,200 m) 6 hours walk.

After breakfast at the guesthouse, we begin our trek with stunning views of Lamjung Himal (6,893 m), glowing in the morning sunlight. The trail gradually ascends through the valley toward Pisang, passing a large apple orchard and beautiful fir and pine forests.

As we continue, the landscape becomes more rugged, with cliffs rising along the opposite side of the valley. We reach Bratang (2,950 m) and continue with a short climb through a rocky area before crossing a wooden bridge. The trail then winds along the hillside and crosses back to the right bank of the river.

We trek through pine forests, and as the forest opens, the valley changes from a narrow V-shape to a wider U-shape, revealing spectacular mountain views. Finally, we cross a bridge near a long mani wall and arrive at Lower Pisang. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 08:Trek from Lower pisang to Manang ( 3,540 m) 6 hours walk.

After breakfast at the guesthouse, we begin our trek along a steep ridge offering spectacular views of the Manang Valley and Tilicho Peak (7,145 m). We descend past the airstrip at Humde (3,320 m) and continue across a relatively flat section, where the impressive north face of Annapurna III rises dramatically above the valley.

From the open plains of the Sabje Khola Valley, Annapurna IV (7,525 m) also comes into view. We then cross the reduced flow of the Marsyangdi River via a wooden bridge and reach the small village of Mungji. As we continue, cultivated fields appear on both sides of the trail. Nearby, beneath a rocky hillside, lies the traditional village of Braga, known for its ancient monastery, large chortens, and mani walls.

Surrounded by spectacular Himalayan peaks, we make a final short but steep climb to Manang. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 09:Acclimatization in Manang hike to Gangapurna lake/Hundred lama ( 3,750 m) 4 hours walk.

Today is a well-deserved rest and acclimatization day in Manang, giving your body time to adjust to the increasing altitude before crossing the Thorong La Pass. While we take a break from trekking, we can enjoy short hikes around the village to gradually adapt to the thinner air.

Optional activities include crossing the river to see the impressive icefall descending from the Annapurna range or hiking to a higher viewpoint for panoramic views of the Annapurna range and Manang Valley. You can also visit the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) aid post to learn about high-altitude safety and acclimatization.

Another option is a visit to Gangapurna Glacier Lake, surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. Overnight in Manang.

Day 10:Trek from Manang to Siri Kharka (4,060 m) 6 hours walk.

After an initial steep climb, the trail continues along the mountainside with a steady ascent toward the watershed. Along the way, we may encounter yaks and deer grazing above and below the trail. As we approach the higher section, we enjoy spectacular views toward Tilicho Lake, a stunning high-altitude lake nestled beneath the northern face of Tilicho Peak.

Tilicho Lake is often described as the “Great Ice Lake” and is considered one of the world’s highest lakes. The lake also holds religious significance for Hindu pilgrims and is associated with ancient Hindu traditions. We continue along the scenic trail and reach Siri Kharka, where we spend the night. Overnight at a guesthouse in Siri Kharka.

Day 11:Trek from Shiri kharka to Tilicho Base camp(4,150 m) 5 hours walk.

After breakfast, we follow an easy trail through the landslide area, where impressive rock formations create a dramatic landscape. The trail gradually leads us toward Tilicho Base Camp, with beautiful views of Tilicho Peak and other snow-capped mountains along the way.

Continuing through the rugged mountain terrain, we eventually reach Tilicho Base Camp, surrounded by spectacular Himalayan scenery. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 12:Trek from Tilicho base camp to Tilicho lake (4,990 m) and back to Siri Kharka,6 hours walk.

Early in the morning, we hike for approximately two hours to reach the spectacular Tilicho Lake. Morning is the best time to visit, as strong winds often develop later in the day. Situated at around 4,920 m above sea level, Tilicho Lake is one of the world’s highest lakes and is famously known as the “Great Ice Lake.”

The lake lies beneath the northern face of Tilicho Peak and offers an unforgettable Himalayan experience. After enjoying the breathtaking scenery and taking time to explore the area, we retrace our steps along the same trail back to Siri Kharka. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 13:Trek from Siri kharka to Yak Kharka (4050 m) 6 hours walk.

After breakfast, we descend toward the quiet village of Khangsar, passing Tare Gumba, an ancient monastery believed to be more than a thousand years old. From Khangsar, we follow the rocky hillside toward the Thorong Khola Valley, enjoying beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and rugged peaks.

The trail passes through peaceful alpine landscapes where we may spot Himalayan wildlife, including blue sheep and, with luck, the elusive snow leopard. After crossing the river, we ascend to rejoin the main Annapurna Circuit trail and continue toward Yak Kharka. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 14:Trek from Yak kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450 m) 5 hours walk.

Today’s trek to Thorong Phedi is challenging but rewarding. We cross a suspension bridge and continue ascending toward Ledar Village. The trail climbs gradually through rugged terrain and beneath towering cliffs before reaching Thorong Phedi, the final settlement before crossing the Thorong La Pass.

Along the way, we are rewarded with spectacular views of Mt. Gangapurna, Mt. Syagang, Thorong Peak, and Mt. Khatungkan. Overnight at a guesthouse in Thorong Phedi.

Day 15:Trek from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath via Thorong pass ( 5,416 m) 8 hours walk.

We begin our trek early in the morning for the challenging crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). The trail becomes steep soon after leaving Thorong Phedi, but the route is well established and clearly marked. After approximately four hours of steady ascent, we reach the pass, marked by a chorten and colorful prayer flags.

The pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains, the Kali Gandaki Valley, and the distinctive brown and purple landscapes of Mustang. We then begin the long descent toward Muktinath, with spectacular views of Dhaulagiri along the way. As the rugged moraine landscape gives way to greener slopes, we follow the beautiful Jhong Khola Valley toward Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site known for its temples and shrines. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 16:Trek from Muktinath to Kagbeni ( 2,800 m) 5 hours walk.

Early in the morning, we visit the famous Muktinath Temple and return to the hotel for breakfast. Afterward, we begin our trek down through the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge, passing through a dry, high-altitude landscape that resembles the Tibetan Plateau.

We pass the traditional villages of Jharkot and Khingar, known for their distinctive Tibetan-style architecture, before following the trail steeply downhill to Kagbeni. This ancient village is renowned for its traditional Tibetan-influenced culture and historic monastery, believed to date back several centuries. Kagbeni also serves as the gateway to the restricted Upper Mustang region. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 17:Trek from Kagbeni to Marpha( 2,670 m) 6 hours walk.

After breakfast at the lodge, we begin our trek along a relatively flat trail following the banks of the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge. The route passes through a dry landscape with a high-altitude environment similar to Tibet.

We reach Jomsom around lunchtime and take a short break before continuing toward Marpha. Famous for its traditional Thakali culture, Buddhist monasteries, and charming stone-paved streets, Marpha is also renowned for its apple orchards. The village is well known for its locally produced apple products and traditional apple brandy, which is popular among locals and visitors alike. Overnight at a guesthouse in Marpha.

Day 18:Trek from Marpha to Ghasa (2,010 m) 7 hours walk.

After breakfast at the lodge, we begin our trek toward Ghasa. The trail initially follows a relatively gentle path through beautiful pine, rhododendron, and birch forests toward Kalopani. From there, the route gradually descends more steeply toward Ghasa, the southernmost Thakali village along the trail.

The surrounding landscape is lush and scenic, with dense forests and impressive mountain views. The Ghasa area is also known for its rich birdlife and diverse natural environment, making it an interesting destination for nature and bird enthusiasts. Overnight at a guesthouse in Ghasa.

Day 19:Trek from Ghasa to Tatopani-Hot spring (1,190 m) 7 hours walk.

After breakfast at the lodge, we begin our trek along a trail that descends steeply toward the spectacular Rupse Waterfall. The cascading waterfall is one of the highlights of the journey and offers a refreshing stop along the trail.

From Rupse Waterfall, we continue through the dramatic Kali Gandaki Valley, surrounded by the towering Annapurna I (8,091 m) and Dhaulagiri I (8,167 m). The trail then gradually ascends through several traditional settlements before reaching Tatopani, a popular natural hot spring destination.

After checking into the guesthouse, you can relax and enjoy a soothing bath in the natural hot springs. Overnight at a guesthouse in Tatopani.

Day 20:Drive from Tatopani to Pokhara (8,20 m) 7 hours Drive.

After breakfast, we take a bus or jeep to Pokhara, with the journey taking approximately 8–9 hours via Beni Bazaar. Along the way, we make stops for snacks and restroom breaks. The scenic road follows the Kali Gandaki River Valley, offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills and countryside. We arrive in Pokhara and check into the hotel. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 21:Drive from Pokhara to Kathamndu(1,365 m) 7 hours drive.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to the beautiful surroundings of Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu. The scenic journey follows the river valleys, offering wonderful views of terraced hills, traditional villages, and rural Nepalese life along the way.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can relax at the hotel or enjoy some souvenir shopping. In the evening, we celebrate the successful completion of our trek with a farewell dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 22:Final Departure from Kathmandu(1,365 m) 20 Minutes Drive to (TIA) Airport.

As per your flight departure schedule, the airline requires us to be there at least 3 hours before your departure time. Therefore, we will transfer our guest to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for the final departure.

We turned to Mountain Miracle Trek and expedition to organize a trek and we found family and friends. Bishnu organized everything down to the smallest details and entrusted us to Shankar, an experienced guide who acted as an older brother and friend. Shankar answered thoroughly all of our doubts and questions. Bishnu was always thoughtful in making sure that everything was to our liking and that everything was going smoothly. The chosen lodges were always welcoming, and the places to eat were carefully vetted to ensure that no one had any issues. The acclimatization was perfect, and no one had any issues despite having no experience at high altitudes. I hope to return to Nepal soon, as it is an extraordinary country, and I will turn to Miracle Mountain Trek and Expedition again to organize my tour.
