Actually, the local name of this hill is called Thulo Kharka hiking by means big pasture and used to be a seasonal herding place for cows and Buffalo Harders from the village below Dhampus.

As locals said that during the 80s, people came from Australia and they found such Big pastures surrounded by the beauty of nature and started to camp here from time to time. After this, the place is becoming very famous and prevented by the name of The Australian camp. This is the way how and why this place is called the Australian camp. It takes an hour and a half to reach Kande the village is attractive and has a number of old-fashioned slate-roofed houses full of the Gurung community. It’s just a bit beside the trekking route that goes to Pothana, Landruk trek, therefor it’s quiet and fewer people use to walk by trekkers in comparison to the other route.

Day 01:Drive from Pokhara to Kande 27km take 30 minutes and hike to Australian Camp (2,060mt) 2 hours.

After having breakfast at the hotel you have to drive from Pokhara to Kande 27 km north of Pokhara city, and it will take half an hour to drive by Taxi. And you can start hiking in total it takes two hours to hike to the Australian camp passing through a lush greenery forest with a nice melody of chirping birds. The trail goes with gentle climbing through such a peaceful environment that keeps your mind peaceful and relaxed. Once we reached the Australian camp it offers you sweet Mountain views of the Annapurna region like as=Fishtail, Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Annapurna II, III, IV, and Lamjung Himal, Budha Himal, and more, and evening you can have a short walk to the ground where you can see the National flag of Nepal. And Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 02:Trek to Phedi via Dhampus Village and Drive back to Pokhara (820mt) 3/4 hours walk.

Wake up early in the morning to grave the wonderful sunrise view and have your Breakfast at the hotel. After this, you have to descend all the way to Phedi. Which will take you around a 3-4 hour walk while you be passing through Dhampus village you can have little shopping as well the handmade woolen swatter pashmina etc. Or can continue your journey by passing through such old typical houses following an old trekking stone paved trail. Whether you can take a bus from Dhampus or walk all the way down to Phedi and catch Bus/Taxi to get back to Pokhara(820mt) 19km.
