Nepal Visa Information

For most international travellers Nepal issues a VISA UPON ARRIVAL at the International Airport in Kathmandu. You are eligible to stay in Nepal for the duration of your specified visa. The cost and duration of visas is tabulated below.
A valid passport and one passport sized photo meeting the passport photo requirements must be presented to customs at the airport.
Visa can be obtained ONLY through PAYMENT OF CASH in the following currency: Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar and Japanese Yen.
Credit card, Indian currency and Nepali currency are NOT ACCEPTED as payment of visa fee

b. Gratis (Free) Visa

  • Nationals of South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka who are entering Nepal for the first time in one visa year (January to December) will be able to obtain gratis visa which are valid for 30 days. These visas can be extended if required by the Immigration Department upon payment of visa fees as specified above.
  • Indian nationals do not require a visa to enter into Nepal.
     

c. Nepal Visa for Indian Nationals
Indian nationals do not require a visa to enter Nepal. As per the Nepalese Immigration, Indian Nationals traveling to Nepal by air must have at least one of the following documents:
1.       Passport
2.       Election Commission Card 


d. Nepal Visa For Chinese Nationals
As per the official statement from the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, China: Chinese nationals applying for tourist visa to Nepal are being provided “gratis tourist visa” (From Jan. 5, 2016 onwards). Chinese nationals will be able to applpy for a tourist visa from the following Nepali embassies in the People’s Republic of China:

  1. Embassy of Nepal, Beijing
  2. Consulate General of Nepal, Lhasa
  3. Consulate General of Nepal, Hong Kong
  4. Honorary Consulate of Nepal, Shanghai

e. Other Visa Information
Nationals from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan will need to obtain visa from Nepal Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries, as they DO NOT GET VISAS ON ARRIVAL at the immigration entry points of Nepal. 


f. Visa Extension for Nepal
Tourists can stay for a maximum of 150 days in a visa year (Jan 1 to Dec 31).
