Among all the hiking trails in Nepal, the Chandragiri Hiking Trail has become one of the most popular and talked-about routes for hiking enthusiasts from around the world. This trail takes you through lush green slopes and begins at Bhakara Thankot, just beside the bottom station of the Chandragiri Cable Car. It continues all the way to the top of Chandragiri Hill. Although the trek can be challenging, there is also a newer, gentler trail available for a more comfortable climb to the same destination. Most hikers prefer the unique trekking track, which is also favored by the locals.

As we wander through the wilderness, we are constantly captivated by the stunning beauty that Chandragiri Hill offers. This hike, while not excessively difficult, takes about three hours to reach the hilltop, which is situated at an elevation of 2,551 meters in the southwestern part of the Kathmandu Valley. As we navigate through the dense jungle of Chandragiri, the effort is well-rewarded with enchanting panoramas of majestic mountain vistas from the top, including Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Gaurishankar, Buddha Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Jugal Himal—located between the Gaurishankar and Langtang ranges. Visitors can enhance their experience by using the binoculars available at the view tower restaurant.

The legendary history of Chandragiri Hill adds intrigue; it is said that the summit was once abundant in sandalwood trees and that Goddess Parvati herself roamed the foothills in search of them. Some researchers believe that the name "Chandragiri" is derived from the original term "Chandan," meaning sandalwood, with "Giri" meaning mountain in Sanskrit. Additionally, the exploits of Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher may have also inspired the name.

Day 01:Drive to Bhakare and hike to Chandragiri hill (2,551mt) 4 hour day hike.

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 AM after your breakfast. We will then drive for about 45 minutes to reach the starting point of our hike. Along the way, you can enjoy the lush greenery and the unique scenery on this path.

This four-hour hike offers a relaxing experience that invigorates the mind, thanks to the peaceful surroundings. The sweet melody of various birds singing will keep you energized, making you feel inspired and enhancing your stamina.

Once you reach the top of the hill, you'll experience a sense of pride and happiness as you take in the stunning mountain views and the entire valley below. Take time to explore and capture beautiful pictures while enjoying a delicious lunch.
In the evening, we will descend via a cable car, which takes about 10 minutes, and then drive back to the hotel for an overnight stay in Kathmandu.
