The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of Nepal’s most scenic and rewarding short treks, offering a perfect blend of Spectacular Mountain views, rich culture, and beautiful Himalayan landscapes. The trek is especially famous for its breathtaking sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. From Poon Hill, you can enjoy panoramic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other surrounding peaks.

The trail takes you through traditional villages mainly inhabited by Gurung and Magar communities, offering wonderful opportunities to experience their unique culture, traditions, and warm hospitality.

The trek begins from Pokhara, Nepal’s beautiful lakeside city. The journey follows a scenic trail from Nayapul through charming villages, terraced farmland, and lush forests before reaching Tikhedhunga and Ghorepani. As you ascend, the changing landscapes and magnificent mountain scenery make every step rewarding.

An early-morning hike to Poon Hill is the trek's highlight. From the viewpoint, you can witness the first rays of sunlight illuminating the snow-covered Himalayan peaks. The stunning 360-degree panorama makes Poon Hill a favorite destination for photographers and nature lovers.

The trek continues to Ghandruk, a picturesque Gurung village known for its traditional houses, rich culture, and spectacular mountain views. The local Gurung Museum offers an insight into the community’s history and traditions. After exploring Ghandruk, we descend toward Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara, completing this memorable Himalayan adventure.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is suitable for travelers of different ages and fitness levels, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a relatively short and rewarding trekking experience in Nepal. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are generally considered the best seasons, offering pleasant weather and excellent mountain visibility.

Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel (1,365m) 20 min Drive to Hotel.

As we received your flight schedule, our airport representative will be waiting on time at the (TIA) Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu for your arrival. We will drop you off at your Hotel in a private vehicle, and stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02:Kathmandu city tour and further tour planning (1,365 m) 5 hours tour.

After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, visiting four remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our tour includes the historically and architecturally rich Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the fascinating “Monkey Temple” (Swayambhunath), and the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world.

We will also explore the local markets and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu. After completing our sightseeing tour in the late afternoon, we return to the hotel for a brief meeting to prepare for the trek. This will be an opportunity to meet your trekking team and get acquainted with your guide and porters.

You will then have some free time to explore the lively streets of Thamel or purchase any last-minute trekking gear and essentials you may need. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03:Drive(210 km) from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m) 7 hours Drive.

Enjoy a scenic drive along the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers, both popular for rafting and adventure activities. After around seven hours of driving, you will reach Pokhara, the beautiful “City of Lakes.” Surrounded by stunning Himalayan scenery, Pokhara offers magnificent views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu. Explore its peaceful lakes, fascinating caves, scenic viewpoints, and sacred Hindu and Buddhist sites. In the evening, relax with a stroll along the lakeside and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Pokhara. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 04:Drive (45km) to Nayapul/Birethanti and trek to Tikhedhunga(1,540 m) 4-5 hours walk.

After about an hour’s scenic drive from Pokhara by private vehicle, we reach Birethanti, a lively village lined with shops and traditional teahouses. From here, our trek begins with a steady uphill walk through lush landscapes and charming villages. The trail climbs steeply for the first two hours before becoming more gradual as we continue toward Ulleri, a picturesque Magar village at an altitude of 2,070 meters. Enjoy the peaceful mountain surroundings and local hospitality before spending the night at a comfortable guesthouse.

Day 05:Trek From Tikhedhungga to Ghorapani (2,860 m) 7 hours walk.

After breakfast, we descend briefly toward a small stream before beginning a steady uphill climb through beautiful rhododendron forests. The trail passes through traditional Magar and Gurung settlements, offering glimpses of Annapurna South and other snow-capped peaks along the way.

We continue through the peaceful forest to Nangethanti, the last settlement before Ghorepani, where we stop for lunch. After lunch, the trail gradually ascends for another hour and a half through rhododendron woodland and alongside a small stream before reaching the picturesque village of Ghorepani. Enjoy the mountain atmosphere and stay overnight at a comfortable hotel.

Day 06:Early morning climb to Poonhill (3,210 m) and trek to Tadapani (2,630 m) 6-7 hours walk.

Early in the morning, we will hike up to Poon Hill to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas. From the viewpoint, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, Nilgiri North and South, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and many other magnificent peaks.

After enjoying the mesmerizing sunrise and mountain scenery, we will hike back to Ghorepani for breakfast. Following breakfast, we will continue our trek toward today’s destination, Tadapani. The trail passes through beautiful rhododendron forests and scenic mountain landscapes and takes approximately five hours to reach Tadapani at an altitude of 2,640 meters.

Upon arrival in Tadapani, we will check into our lodge and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Overnight stay in Tadapani.

Day 07:Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,940 m) 4 hours walk down.

Today, the trail gently descends through beautiful rhododendron, oak, and lush forest toward Ghandruk. The peaceful sounds of birds and the surrounding greenery make the walk especially enjoyable for nature lovers.

Ghandruk is a picturesque Gurung village known for its rich culture, traditional houses, warm hospitality, and stunning mountain views. The village also has a long history of Gurkha soldiers. Upon arrival, we explore the village, experience its unique Gurung traditions, and enjoy the spectacular Himalayan scenery. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 08:Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara (820 m) 4 hours walk.

After a hearty breakfast, we begin our final day of trekking with a gentle descent toward Syauli Bazaar. The trail follows the Modi River through peaceful landscapes and continues along a scenic dirt road to Birethanti. From there, we walk for about 30 minutes to Nayapul, where our private vehicle awaits.

We then drive back to Pokhara, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. After approximately 45 km, we arrive in Pokhara and check into our hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 09:Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,365m) 7 hours drive.

After breakfast, we take tourist transportation at around 7:00 AM for the scenic drive back to Kathmandu. The journey takes approximately eight hours and passes through charming towns, traditional villages, terraced hillsides, and beautiful countryside. Along the way, enjoy views of rivers and rural landscapes that showcase Nepal’s natural beauty and local way of life.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can either relax at your hotel or extend your adventure with exciting activities such as a Chitwan jungle safari, rafting, Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and shopping, a scenic Everest mountain flight, or mountain biking.

Day 10:Final Departure from Kathmandu(1,365m) 20 minutes Drive to Airport.

According to your flight departure schedule, and as the airline requires passengers to arrive at least 3 hours before departure, we will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for your final departure.

Airport pick-up and drop-off by private vehicle for your arrival and departure.
Ground transportation by car, van, jeep, coaster, or Sutlej, depending on the group size.
Full-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu's World Heritage Sites with an experienced tour guide.
Four nights' accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara on a twin-sharing basis with a BB plan.

Carry a basic first-aid kit and bring prescribed medicines for any chronic medical conditions.
Arrangement of emergency helicopter service, with the cost covered through your travel insurance.
A farewell dinner in Kathmandu at a traditional Nepali cultural restaurant after completing the tour.

Entrance fees for monuments and temples during your city tour.
Expenses for personal items and meals while you are in urban areas like Kathmandu or Pokhara.
Hot shower, Wi-Fi, Battery Charge, etc. during your Trek.
Personal trek/ tour gear (equipment) is not included.
Tipping for a guide, porters, and driver is expected.

Unforgettable trekking

My family of 3 travelled in Nepal for 2 weeks. Bishnu was our guide. He was a very good guide in all aspects. The 5 days of trekking up the mountain was very challenging to us urban folks cum couch potatoes. We were very thankful to Bishnu to keep us safe. This Nepal adventure remains our most memorable adventure. We are so grateful that we could make it in our lifetime.

Amazing scenery
