The Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most captivating Himalayan adventures, combining dramatic mountain scenery, remote villages, diverse landscapes, and rich Himalayan culture. Located in the Gorkha district, the trail follows the Budi Gandaki River Valley, crosses the challenging Larkya La Pass, and descends through Bhimthang, Tilije, and Dharapani. Often considered an excellent alternative to the Annapurna Circuit, the Manaslu Circuit offers a more remote trekking experience. The trail passes through traditional Gurung and other Himalayan communities, with highlights including cascading waterfalls, deep gorges, alpine forests, rhododendron blooms, ancient villages, and spectacular mountain viewpoints.
A Scenic Journey through the Manaslu Region-The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward the Gorkha region before continuing along the Budi Gandaki Valley. The trail gradually climbs through lush foothills, narrow river valleys, and traditional settlements. As you head north, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic. Villages such as Deng, Namrung, Lho, and Syala offer magnificent views of the surrounding peaks, with Mount Manaslu becoming increasingly prominent. At Samagaon, the scenery takes on a distinctly high-Himalayan character. Surrounded by monasteries, prayer walls, mani stones, and traditional homes, Samagaon is also an ideal place for acclimatization and exploration.
The trail continues to Samdo, a remarkable settlement near the Nepal–Tibet border, offering spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan wilderness. Trekkers interested in exploring the region further can also consider the Tsum Valley Trek, known for its Buddhist heritage, traditional villages, and secluded landscapes. Crossing the Larkya La Pass- The crossing of Larkya La Pass, at approximately 5,160 meters, is one of the trek’s major highlights. From the pass, trekkers can enjoy extraordinary views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and other Himalayan peaks.
After the pass, the trail descends toward the beautiful alpine meadows of Bhimthang. Short Itinerary
Day 01:Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel (1,400m) 20 min drive to hotel.
As per the flight schedule you provided, our airport representative will be waiting on time at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu for your arrival. They will drop you off at your Hotel in a private Vehicle and stay overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02:Kathmandu city tour and further tour planning (1,400m) 6-7 hours tour.
After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, visiting four remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our tour includes the historically and architecturally rich Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the fascinating “Monkey Temple” (Swayambhunath), and the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world.
We will also explore the local markets and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu. After completing our sightseeing tour in the late afternoon, we return to the hotel for a brief trek preparation meeting. This will be an opportunity to meet your trekking team and get acquainted with your guide and porters.
You will then have some free time to explore the lively streets of Thamel or purchase any last-minute trekking gear and essentials you may need. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03:Drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola (7,130m) 8 hours Drive.
We set off early today for Sotikhola. Along the way, we enjoy beautiful views of the Nepalese countryside and farmland, accompanied by stunning mountain landscapes. We will drive on a well-paved road from Kathmandu to Dhading Besi, the district headquarters of Dhading (1,050 m). From Dhading Besi to Arughat, however, the road becomes rough and challenging. After reaching Arughat, a notable town in the region, we continue our drive towards Sotikhola. Overnight stay in Sotikhola.
Day 04:Trek from Sotikhola to Machhakhola [9,30m) 6 hours walk.
At the intersection, we trek through the beautiful Sal forests before climbing onto a ridge overlooking the impressive rapids of the Budhi Gandaki River. We then reach Khursane, where the rough trail winds its way up and down, passing two tropical waterfalls along a steep, rocky path that clings to the side of a cliff. The trail eventually descends past a few rice terraces before ascending and winding its way towards the Gurung village of Labubesi.
We continue trekking behind a rocky outcrop, where the valley opens up, and the Budhi Gandaki River meanders between wide gravel banks. Descending to the sandy riverbed, we walk along the rounded stones before climbing over a side ridge. We then descend once again to the river and cross another suspension bridge to reach Machha Khola village. Overnight in Machha Khola.
We continue trekking behind a rocky outcrop, where the valley opens up, and the Budhi Gandaki River meanders between wide gravel banks. Descending to the sandy riverbed, we walk along the rounded stones before climbing over a side ridge. We then descend once again to the river and cross another suspension bridge to reach Machha Khola village. Overnight in Machha Khola.
Day 05:Trek from Machhakhola to Jagat [1,410m) 7 hours walk.
The trail follows a series of gentle ups and downs before crossing the Tharo Khola and reaching Khorlabesi. After a few more ascents and descents, we come across a natural hot spring in Tatopani. From the hot spring, we climb over another ridge and cross the Budhi Gandaki River via a suspension bridge.
At this point, we ascend a wide, well-constructed staircase, cross an avalanche-prone area, and climb over a ridge to reach Dobhan. After crossing the Yaru Khola, we climb a series of stone steps before descending to the river and ascending another set of stone stairs to Tharo Bharyang.
We then cross to the west bank of the Budhi Gandaki River, climb over a ridge, and trek along the river before ascending towards the village of Jagat. Overnight in Jagat.
At this point, we ascend a wide, well-constructed staircase, cross an avalanche-prone area, and climb over a ridge to reach Dobhan. After crossing the Yaru Khola, we climb a series of stone steps before descending to the river and ascending another set of stone stairs to Tharo Bharyang.
We then cross to the west bank of the Budhi Gandaki River, climb over a ridge, and trek along the river before ascending towards the village of Jagat. Overnight in Jagat.
Day 06:Trek from Jagat to Dyang [1,800m) 7 hours walk.
We start the present trek by moving over a rough edge to Salleri, and after that slip to Sirdibas. The valley enlarges a bit as the trail proceeds up to Ghatta Khola. We additionally keep strolling upstream to a long suspension connect in Philim, a vast Gurung town. The trail turns north simply over the most reduced house in the town and remains on a genuinely level trail as it crosses millet fields to Ekle Bhatti. The course now enters a precarious, uninhabited crevasse. Now, we plunge to the verdant land slants, cross the Budhi Gandaki, at that point trek along the west bank for some time, at that point cross toward the east bank and afterward back once more. As we proceed through the trail the valley enlarges and we go through bamboo backwoods to the Deng Khola. After intersection the Khola, we achieve the modest town of Deng. Overnight in Deng.
Day 07:Trek from Dyang to Namrung (2,660m) 7 hours walk.
After a short walk beyond Deng, we cross the Budhi Gandaki River and ascend to Rana at an altitude of 1,910 m. From the bridge, we climb gradually to join the trail from Bhi and then continue westward up the Budhi Gandaki Valley.
The trail passes through beautiful forests and along mani walls before turning towards a corner that leads to Ghap. Although there is another route, we take the trail through Prok Village, which offers magnificent views of Siringi Himal. Along the way, we cross the Budhi Gandaki several times and pass by several gompas.
The trail continues upstream through a dense forest. After crossing the river at a dramatic point where it thunders through a narrow gorge, the forest becomes less dense, and the trail becomes easier. We continue our pleasant walk, and after a final steep ascent, we reach Namrung. Overnight in Namrung.

Day 08:Trek from Namrung to Samagaon (3530m) 6 hours walk.
Namrung Village offers magnificent views of Siringi Himal and Ganesh Himal, while Mt. Himalchuli can also be seen to the south. From Namrung, we climb steadily through beautiful forests before reaching Lihi, a picturesque village adorned with numerous chortens and barley terraces.
The trail then descends and crosses the side valley of Simnang Himal, with Ganesh Himal remaining in view throughout the journey. We continue through the villages of Sho, Lho, and Shyala before reaching Sama Village.
From Lho Village, we enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Manaslu and have the opportunity to explore the famous Ribung Gompa. In Shyala, we are surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, including Himalchuli and Peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli) to the left, Manaslu and its impressive glaciers directly ahead, and other snow-capped peaks to the right. In the distance, Ganesh Himal stands majestically.
Our scenic journey today concludes at Samagaon, where we spend the night.

Day 09:Acclimatization Day side trip from Samagaon to Pungeen Gompa (4,430m) Manaslu Basecamp/Birendra Tal, 5 hours walk.
We spend the day in Samagaon for rest and acclimatization. Today, we have the opportunity to experience and learn about the rich Sherpa culture. We can see numerous mani stones engraved with Buddhist prayers and images, as well as Sherpa women dressed in traditional clothing and adorned with beautiful jewelry.
On a small hill near Sama Village lies the ancient Pungyen Gompa, a monastery offering spectacular views of the surrounding glaciers and mountains. The name “Pungyen,” meaning “bracelet,” is believed to be a fitting description of the two peaks of Manaslu.
The monastery was destroyed a year after the first unsuccessful Japanese expedition to climb Manaslu. Local people believed that the expedition had angered the mountain gods. When the Japanese returned the following year, they faced strong resistance from the local community and were forced to abandon their attempt. They finally succeeded in reaching the summit in 1959.

Day 10:Trek from Samagaon to Samdo (3,690m) 5 hours walk.
Today, we descend to the Budhi Gandaki River, which has now turned north, and follow it to a bridge over a side stream. The trail to one side leads towards Manaslu Base Camp. Continuing along the Larkya La Trail, we pass several mani walls as the valley gradually widens.
The trail is relatively easy, following a shelf above the river and passing through the juniper and birch forests of Kermo Kharka. We then descend from the shelf, cross the Budhi Gandaki River via a wooden bridge, and climb steeply onto a promontory between two branches of the river.
From a stone archway, we can see a large white kani (Buddhist gateway). After passing through the kani, we arrive at the village of Samdo. Overnight in Samdo.
The trail is relatively easy, following a shelf above the river and passing through the juniper and birch forests of Kermo Kharka. We then descend from the shelf, cross the Budhi Gandaki River via a wooden bridge, and climb steeply onto a promontory between two branches of the river.

Day 11:Acclimatization Day side trip from Samdo to Tibetan border (5,100m) 7 hours walk.
This is another day set aside for proper acclimatization. We have two options for today. The option we highly recommend is a hike up the valley directly behind Samdo Village. This hike takes us to one of the traditional passes leading to Tibet and offers magnificent views of the majestic Himalayas beyond the pass.
Along the way, we pass several traditional yak-herding settlements known as doksas and may spot beautiful Himalayan birds, including the Lophophorus (the national bird of Nepal), Lammergeiers, and Himalayan Griffons soaring high above us.
Another option for today is an excursion to the Gya La (“Large Pass”) north of Samdo, which is a more frequently used trading route to Tibet. However, this is a longer, full-day hike and can be somewhat tiring.

Day 12:Trek from Samdo to Dharmashala/Larkye phedi (4,470m) 5 hours walk.
Even today, we continue our trek along the trail, crossing the Budhi Gandaki River before beginning a gradual ascent. After crossing two streams and catching our first glimpse of the Larkya Glacier, we follow the valley of the Salka Khola and climb further to a stone guesthouse at an altitude of 4,450 m.
This stone shelter is not a hotel but a traditional resting place known as Dharmashala, also called Larkya Phedi. Today’s short trek allows us plenty of time for acclimatization and relaxation in the afternoon.

Day 13:Trek from Dharmashala to Bimtang( 3,720m) via Larkye-la pass ( 5,140mt) 9 hrs walk.
We ascend through the valley on the north side of the Larkya Glacier, where we enjoy spectacular views of Larkya Peak and Cho Danda. We then cross the glacier’s moraines, following a gradual ascent that becomes steeper during the final section leading to the Larkya La Pass.
From the pass, we are rewarded with breathtaking views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and the magnificent Annapurna II. It is a longer-than-usual day as we descend towards Bimthang, but walking into the lower valleys as the evening mist begins to settle, with Mt. Manaslu towering nearby, creates an unforgettable experience.

Day 14:Trek from Bimthang to Tilche [2300m) 6 hours walk.
From a ridge above Bimthang, we enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal, and Cheo Himal. We then descend further and cross a high pasture known as Sangure Kharka, followed by a bridge over the Dudh Khola.
We continue through beautiful rhododendron forests along a narrow valley until we reach Karche at an altitude of 2,785 m, the highest cultivated area in the valley. From here, we cross the fields before making a steep climb over a ridge. The trail then descends from the ridge in a wide, sweeping arc towards the riverbank at 2,580 m. A short distance beyond, we reach the village of Gho.
Due to the previous day's long trek, we may choose to spend the night in Gho. However, better accommodation is available in Tilije, so we recommend continuing to Tilije Village for the overnight stay.

We cross a small ridge and enjoy the stone-paved trail as it winds through a beautiful village. We then cross the Dudh Khola and ascend through a chorten-shaped archway, passing a mani wall before reaching Thonje Village.
At the village, we pass through a police checkpoint and continue towards Dharapani, where we officially enter the Annapurna Circuit trekking route. Further along the trail, we pass through Karte Village and, after a long walk, cross the Marshyangdi Khola. We also encounter several mani walls along the way before reaching the village of Tal, situated at the foot of a spectacular waterfall.

At the village, we pass through a police checkpoint and continue towards Dharapani, where we officially enter the Annapurna Circuit trekking route. Further along the trail, we pass through Karte Village and, after a long walk, cross the Marshyangdi Khola. We also encounter several mani walls along the way before reaching the village of Tal, situated at the foot of a spectacular waterfall.

Day 16:Trek from Tal to Syange (1,100m) 6 hours walk.
We follow the trail towards Chyamje Village, crossing the Marshyangdi Khola once again. The Marsyangdi Valley gradually opens up, revealing beautiful terraced fields and villages perched high on the hillsides.
The trail then descends through lush rhododendron and pine forests before reaching Syange. Overnight in Syange.

Day 17:Drive from Syange to Kathmandu (1,400m) 9 hours Drive.
The drive from Syange to Kathmandu via Besisahar offers us a wonderful opportunity to enjoy both hill and mountain scenery. The journey follows the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli Rivers for much of the way. Along the route, we pass through picturesque villages surrounded by terraced farmland on both sides of the road.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will be transferred to our hotel. The rest of the day can be spent at leisure or enjoying some last-minute shopping. In the evening, we will celebrate the successful completion of our trek with a farewell dinner.

Day 18:Final Departure from Kathmandu (1,400m) 20 minutes drive to (TIA) Airport.
As per your flight departure schedule, the airline requires us to be there at least 3 hours before your departure time. Therefore, we will transfer our guest to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for the final departure.

Thanks to Bishnu and Shankar, our experience in Nepal was excellent. Their knowledge of the territory, the organization of the trip, and their expertise were really helpful, also for my mountain rescue with helicopter. Bishnu is great. He took us by hand since we were planning our trip from Italy, until our departure from Nepal. The trek in the Manaslu region was amazing, but their companionship and their advice about what to do, see, and eat in Kathmandu was very helpful and friendly. Bishnu managed every single detail professionally: our stay in hotels and all the permits for the trekking. What about our legendary guide Shankar? He is a brother. He knew every step of the trail, taking us safely day by day, and our stay in his village Kahare Bazar was amazing.
